"We played extremely well at times, and actually controlled a lot of the play during the middle parts of the game, but it's the same old story with us...too many soft goals, and we're not taking care of our good opportunities. It won't get any easier as we travel Saturday to the best team in the league - Buffalo City FC, then to Erie on Sunday. I hope our guys are ready for this road trip." - Mike Moyer
REV NOTES:
6'4" Forward Pete Rowley is expected to make his return on June 6 vs. the Pocono Snow (NEXT HOME MATCH)
Starters Mike Choiniere (D) and Erik Weber (M) did not play due to injury, and are listed as probable for the weekend.
Large Thursday night crowd witnesses entertaining game
PA Stoners goalkeeper Sam Bishop - Man of the Match
FCR midfielder Max Ferdinand - Man of the Match
Conrad Weiser grad Derek Long made a successful FCR debut and created several scoring opportunities. Derek played for the U18 FC Revolution youth team last year, and was the DeSales College leading scorer this past fall.
Midfielders Eric Puls, Max Ferdinand and Jeff Koegel controlled most of the play through the first 60 minutes.
Head coach Mike Moyer displayed frustration with the lack of protection of star midfielder Max Ferdinand. " The man in the middle was quite good overall, but referees must protect the stars - the players who touch the ball the most. Max was whacked every time he touched it."
Stoners GK Sam Bishop came up big on two occassions when the score was tied. "Bishop's experience and clutch saves, won the game for the Stoners. His stop on midfielder Jeff Koegel was top shelf. We were all over them during that stretch of play. They were well organized and scored some nice goals, but we felt the score should have been closer. We have to start taking care of our chances," said Moyer.
Special thanks to the FC REVOLUTION U9 Blaugrana boys and U11 Falcon girls for helping at the match!
The REVS leave for Buffalo City FC at 8:00 am Saturday morning, for a 6:00 pm kick-off.
The squad then travels to Erie for a 3:00 pm kick-off on Sunday.
